Final Round of the Michigan State Park March Madness Poll

Congratulations to Tahquamenon Falls State Park for winning the 2016 March Madness Poll. It’s one of my favorite places in Michigan. Thank you to everyone that voted. I love the state parks in Michigan they have so much to offer and affordable to visit.

After thousands of votes cast, we are down to the final round with the last two parks going head to head to determine this years champion. I had thought one of these would have won the first time I did the March Madness Poll, but that was Ludington and last year it was Tawas. I love both the Island and the T-Falls and both wonderful parks for different reasons.

I know it’s hard to pick between them, but I would love it if you voted  before Sunday March 27th so we could crown this years winner.

Now we are down to the Top 8 State Parks. and there are some really fantastic parks that made it to this round. We lost some equally wonderful parks. Last years winner, Tawas Point State Park, knocked off 2014 winner Ludington State Park in their head to head matchup. Vote for your favorite in this week matchups to see who gets to move on to the final four.

Time for my annual Michigan State Parks March Madness Poll to see what your favorite State Park in Michigan is. I took the list of Parks and Recreational Areas and sorted the list randomly using Random.org. I then broke them up into 16 groups. Pic your favorite from each group and then next week the winners from this round will be paired up and the winners of each poll will move on until we are down to the final pair of parks to determine which is your favorite. Last year Tawas Point State Park took the top honors, and the year before that it was Ludington State Park. Who will win it all this year? you can see the previous years polls HERE

We started with all the places you can visit with you recreation passport, and now we are down to the final 2 parks. They are in the same region of the state, Both are fantastic parks, and this will be a good final round.

We are down to the final four Michigan State Parks after starting with over 100 parks to choose from the four parks left in the competitions will be really though to chose between them, it’s like picking your favorite child. I have been to all of them and they are all exceptional parks. Vote for you favorite to go onto the championship round.

This round will end Thursday the 26th and then we will be onto the final round to determine the winner

Top 8 Round Michigan State Park March Madness Poll

We are down to the top 8 after the Sweet 16 round ended, it’s getting really though to chose between the remaining parks, they are all favorites of mine. Last years winner Ludington State Park was defeated by Fort Michilimackinac State Park and Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse, so we will have a new overall winner this year, who will it be. Pic your favorites to go onto the next round.

2015 Michigan State Park March Madness Poll

What’s your favorite State Park, Forest or Scenic Site  maybe The Porkies, Belle Isle or Rifle River Recreation Area?  There are about a 150 places in Michigan you can camp or visit with your Recreation Passport and I had fun doing this last year, so here we go again for this March.  Ludington State park won the tournament in 2014, which park will it be this year? you can see the polls from last year HERE

I broke up the list into 16 random groups. Pick your favorite from each group and we will work it down tournament bracket style to determine the final champion and Michigan’s favorite Park.

Each round will end on Sundays and the winners will be paired up in the next round starting Sunday evening.

 

Pick one favorite park from each group, the winners will go onto next weeks polls you will view the Current results after you vote.

winner state park madnessCongratulations to Ludington State Park for making it past all 5 rounds to win the Lost In Michigan State Park polls, we started out with over a 100 state parks and worked our way down to the winner. Thank you to the thousands of you that voted.

I must be honest with you and say I have never been to Ludington State Park. Since it is so popular, whenever I have tried to make reservations the park was always full. I will go this year even if we don’t camp overnight.

The poll has definitely been worthwhile doing. I learned a lot about what parks are popular and ones that are not and it’s got me curious to visit some of them that I have not been to. I have always had this goal of visiting all the parks, and I have been to about half of them, but I have a lot more to go to and look forward to making the most of my recreational passport.

It’s been a long road with over 100 state parks competing, but we are down to the final two parks voted into the Championship Round. They are definitely worthy of being in the final round, and it will be hard to chose.

Vote for your favorite and Sunday April 6th we will crown the Michigan State Park Champion for 2014.
