Driving around Alma I found this majestic old house, so I stopped and got pic of it. Like many places I find, when I get home, I start googling to see what I can find. This was the home of Ammi Wright and built in the 1880’s. He was a lumber tycoon and one of the founding members of Alma collage and donated some buildings and the land for the collage. It’s sad to see a house like this in a state that it’s in. I be you could not find any craftsmen that can do stone work like that any more.

Downtown St Johns. with the Clinton County courthouse at the end of the street. I walked around for a little bit and I kept hearing music playing and then I realized there were speakers around the outside of the building playing music. I was not able to stay long but St Johns is a nice town with some beautiful old historic homes and buildings.
Autumn is such a magical time in Michigan, but it goes by so fast, and I never have as much time to enjoy it as I would like. I love the waterfalls in the U.P. but if you can make it up there to see them, there is place in the L.P. that few know about. Seven Bridges area between Kalkaska and Rapid City on Valley road is a beautiful place to walk around and take in the wonders of Mother Nature. It has a few small water falls some cute little foot bridges and several streams all in about an acre and it’s easy to walk around. If your a leaf peeper looking at the fall colors this is an excellent place to visit.
if you like these posts it would really mean a lot to me if you share them with your friends. it would also help me out if you check out my wall calenders HERE to help with my expenses
Just north of Vassar on M15 at the top of the hill sits this old house on the west side of the road, I thought it was a beautiful old house and took a pic of it, when I looked at the back of my camera I noticed a figure in the window above the porch. I looked up a the house and there it was, lets just say it woke me up a little then I realized it was a manikin or something with a sheet draped over it. I have always thought of doing that if I had an old house or building I am happy to see someone else has done it.

Sable Falls in da Upper Peninsula
Driving thru the little community of Elm Hall, west of Alma, out of the corner of my eye I noticed this old church, It’s strange that such a large church sits back in the corner of the town away from the main drag. I would have thought it would be on the main intersection and the town built around it. The thing that I really noticed was the sign, “Church Of God, meets here”. What really sent me into deep thought was the “meets here” most churches are named after saint something or other and denotes the denomination on the sign, this was just the Church Of God and that fact that it says “meets here” means that Church Of God is not the name of the church but the group of people that meet there. It got me thinking what if we named everything like that. I live in Saginaw, what if the sign going into town said “City of Saginaw, lives here” or such and such school “learns here”, maybe even Ford Field, “the Lions play here” but that may be stretching it a bit.
