I am back from my trip to the Upper Peninsula. 1450 miles, 750 photos, 10 days, 3 lighthouses 2 state parks, and an island (probably not the one you are thinking) along with countless bugs splatted on the front of my jeep. I Have lots of great stuff to share and new places I visited.
While out traveling around exploring the Mitten State I visit a lot of small towns and many of the post offices I see are a typical brick building. I assume there is a standard plan that the post office used when building them. On occasion, I come across one that is a little bit different
I saw this little old barn on Love Road near Bellevue. I don’t know anything about it but I thought it was a cute looking little barn. I am not sure where I am going sometimes but I do know you see some rather interesting things traveling the back roads. Lost In Michigan books are
The old train depot on the outskirts of downtown Ontonagon sits alone and forgotten. The railroad tracks that trains took to the station are gone. The Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad referred to as the Milwaukee Road built the station in the late 1800s. From the map of the railroad I saw, it
The House of Seven Gables in Huron City, near the tip of the thumb, is a beautifully preserved Victorian home that sits on a bluff overlooking Lake Huron. It was named by William Lyon Phelps, for the house of the same name in the Hawthorne novel. This is the third house built on this site.

Many of the buildings have been renovated and repurposed into office spaces and retail shopping and dining. The complex is now called
At the northernmost point of the Keweenaw Peninsula in the U.P. is the remains of an old rocket launchpad. The site was used in the 60’s to launch experimental rockets. The only thing that remains of the old site is a concrete pad and an old iron rail. A stone memorial was placed a the
This old log cabin was built south of Cassopolis with logs donated by local citizens. It was built in 1923 to honor the pioneers that settled in the area. It was meant to be a temporary structure for a Pioneer Day celebration, but it has stood next to the shores of Stony Lake for almost
I took a pic of this old shack way back in the summer of 2013. It was before I even started my website. It was one of the places that inspired me to create Lost In Michigan. It sits northwest of Cadillac along M-115 and I took a pic when I went past it seven
Few people visit this old forgotten boathouse with a link to our maritime past. Northeast of Munising past the Munising Falls visitors center is the former Sand Point Lifesaving Station. It is now used as offices and living space for the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. I think a lot of visitors head out that way
