I saw this old windmill along the road near Pompeii, no not that Pompeii, but the one near Middleton, I guess that’s not much help either, lets just say central lower peninsula. I see many old windmills on farms, or where farms used to be, many have a few blades missing and the “heavy” end sits at the bottom and it does not turn no matter how hard the wind tries to get it to rotate. I never lived on an old farm, and I am not sure what the windmills were used for, but I figure probably for pumping well water or something.
I don’t live out in the country, where it seems like the wind never stops, instead, I live in a rather typical subdivision. We do get those really windy days, and I always think to myself, I need a windmill it seems like such a waste to have all this wind and not harness the power of it.
