I was in the Upper Peninsula over the past weekend ( Sept 7-11, 2018) and I traveled along the Lake Michigan shoreline over to Menomonee and then up the Keweenaw and then along the Lake Superior shoreline to Brimley. all the days I was there it got into the upper 70’s and I think the warm weather is holding off the trees from changing colors. There were a few random sparklers as Bob Ross calls them, but other than that it was all green. With the temps getting into the 80’s this weekend I am thinking the trees will wait even longer. I am no expert but I am thinking the trees will start the last weekend in September and maybe peek in the first half of October.
If you planning a trip to leaf peeping in the U.P. you still have a few weeks until the color will be spectacular.
by the way, if you are looking for a place to sleep, here are some of the hotels I stayed at while I was up there.
The White House motel near Calumet.
Travelers Motel near Bessemer
